Pretty and modern space at the corner of 12th and Arbutus. Friendly service and several brewing options. Some coffee execution needs work: pour over wasn't quite hot enough and milk in our latte wasn't foamed to the right texture. And wish there were more food options. Still, lots of pluses ... here. I didn't even intend to walk in this café because let's be honest, as a broke student traveler, you just don't have it in your budget to simply hop into trendy, beautiful cafes. However, I am so BLESSED that some stranger held the door for an awkward amount of time ... that I just felt compelled to go in! First off - atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. The music is hip and tasteful, and the staff is so friendly and hip (but the kind of hip that isn't suffocating, like you tend to see in most baristas). Love this place since the renovation. The environment was not so bright as they are now, but their coffees are always decent. Just got 2 old goey cinnamon buns served to us (take out). Last time we went to Sweet & Aromatic, service was poor. Today was our last visit there. Next time, we will do the trip to Grounds for Coffee directly.

Not a good place for food or coffee. We waited half an hour for a bagel with cream cheese, a breakfast sandwich, and 2 ice coffees. If Tim Hortons can do it in 2 minutes there's no reason it should take 30 minutes. We had ordered an ice mocha ... and an ice latte. The mocha tasted like they had used some cheap chocolate powder and not enough of it. It tasted very bland and not coffee like. The staff were pretty slow and not well trained.
