Reviews for Axum Restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver. This place is a hidden gem. Their portions are huge and the price is super reasonable. The owner cares a lot about their customers and really showcases authentic Ethiopian food. Their lamb dish was amazing. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something new. ... They also do live music on Saturdays! You won’t be disappointed! Read more
Really liked this place, friendly, clean and very tasty. I will come back for sure. I only had Ethiopian food in Milan and that was my favourite place to go, once in Vancouver I never found it again and was soooo happy I did finally find one this good.
Axum Ethiopian Restaurant offered an experience that fell short of expectations. While dining with friends, we tried the Injera with vegetable sides. Sadly, the food lacked flavor, leaning towards being bland. On the brighter side, the restaurant's African-themed ambiance was a highlight, adding a pleasant touch to the atmosphere. However, hygiene became a ... concern when the chef sneezed into her hands and continued cooking, creating an unhygienic situation that affected our perception of the place. Overall, our visit to Axum Ethiopian Restaurant left us disappointed. Despite the inviting ambiance, the lack of flavor in the food and the concerning hygiene practices made it clear that this wouldn't be a place we'd choose to revisit. Read more
I’ve been craving Ethiopian food for months so when I saw this place was open and only minutes from downtown I was all in hoping for the best and the owner really came through for me! I ordered the veggie plate and my spouse ordered something with meat and we ... were both in awe of these dishes. So much food!!! It lasted us the sit down meal at the restaurant AND a late night snack at the hotel. Loved talking to the owner. He was so kind and hospitable to us. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back. Read more
Our first visit to this restaurant certainly satisfied our taste buds! There was ample food on the delicious Fish Tibs plate. The injera—spongy fermented flatbread made of teff grain—was quite filling. Don’t forget to try the spicy tea! We look forward to revisiting this Ethiopian restaurant in Vancouver.
