Murchie’s Fine Tea - Vancouver, British Columbia

Stopped in to check this place out after leaving the bookstore across the street and was pleasantly surprised! A cute nook of a tea shop selling dish towels, tea sets, cups/saucers, taste samples (boxes of 10 tea bags), loose leaf as well as larger assortments of teas. They had a lovely Yuzu ... black tea on taste when we came in. Sadly only loose leaf at the time but tasty nonetheless! Made a couple of purchases and had a nice chat with both the cashier/tea connoisseur behind the counter and a local customer who gave me some recommendations for the area based on personal interests. A very warm and welcoming shop with prices you’d expect for a specialty tea shop (with delicious teas - tried the ones I’ve purchased and all of them are so good! Lemon and Noir, second selection was the Canadian West Coast blend). I visited Murchies this afternoon looking for a tea themed gift. Despite being an avid tea drinker Murchies has such a vast selection that I would have found it rather intimidating, that is if it wasn’t for the employee who helped me. Susan calmly talked me through their options and ... helped me craft my own bundle. She knew things about all of the teas that they had, their strengths and flavour profiles. She gave me a sample of their earl grey tea and let me smell countless others. Whilst Murchie’s has a well deserved reputation of great tea it was Susan’s knowledge and attentiveness what made this visit a memorable one! She is a fantastic ambassador for the company. My co-favorite tea place in Vancouver. Such a wide selection and am yet to be disappointed by something I have tried there. The black teas are amazing, love their peppermint herbal tea. And they have many cute teapots and mugs made of fine bone china!

Dropped by to pick up a gift during my lunch break. The person who assisted me (receipt says Auphan) was so helpful - she recommended some of her favorite teas and was so knowledgeable about their selections.
