It’s been a number of years since we last visited Black Rook Bakehouse. Located on East Hastings Street in Vancouver, I’ve always been impressed with their savory pies and sweet cakes. Unfortunately, on this past visit in August, they were all sold out of savory pies 😦 Instead, we took home a ... Lemon Berry Muffin and a slice of Chester’s Cheesecake, which is a mix between carrot cake and cheesecake. Layers of carrot cake made with rum-soaked apricots, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds sandwich a layer of New York cheesecake and the whole thing is topped with cream cheese icing. I love this place. My favourite one is the morning glory muffin. Another mist have the cinnamon bun. You should also try the croissant 🥐! They are delicious. You can eat there or take home. Give yourself a try.

They are known for their carrot cake here. I have also had the banana cream pie and other goodies. It is all good, although coming from a guy who likes icing personally I would like the carrot cake with less icing. Come check them out.

Delicious food, comfy and unpretentious digs, and some of the friendliest service I've ever experienced. Everything is made fresh daily. We made chicken pot pies, straight out of the oven and peach bourbon cheesecake.

Fresh everything, beautiful cakes, pastries, quiche, and homemade bread. We love the cakes here so much that we asked them to make our wedding cake!
