Attended the Baking & Pastry Arts program and honestly, it was the best decision I ever made. There are so many opportunities to showcase our skills and I found a lot of support throughout the program. I really appreciated the variety of French classics taught and bread making.
My fiance and I took the chocolate making class which was such a wonderful experience. Chef Patrice is so knowledgeable, approachable, attentive, and kind. We will definitely be back. The classes are a fantastic value for the price, and the customer service is superb.
I have been fortunate enough to have two events held here for clients. This is a very unique and great team building exercise as one of the events they offer is an iron chef challenge. The basis of this activity is that you are put into teams and tasked with ... the difficult and creative job of cooking a appetizer and entrée using a secret ingredient that has to be incorporated in both dishes. They hosted our clients professionally and with care which was much appreciated. The experience can come in at a little bit high of a price however, it has been a very successful event and our clients seemed to love it (which is the main goal!). You have to cook for one hour and have access to the kitchen and ingredients and can talk with some of the students that are there as well. It feels very high pressure and depending how you cook or eat it could be either very creative or a little bit overwhelming but it’s all in good fun. After that, the head chef tries out all the dishes and scores everyone. Don’t fret, you do not have to only eat your concoctions after the cooking challenge. You are then presented with a three course meal done by the students. One thing I do wish they offered was perhaps a Feedback card (I understand this is difficult for a client event but could be coordinated to the organizer). The dishes we got for good, the portions were a bit small and some of the dishes were a bit over salted in my opinion but overall it was a great meal and event. There is limited parking and just have to register your car with the business beforehand, otherwise be prepared to get towed. Read more
First off, the food here was excellent. Very good value and some great flavours. We enjoyed that immensely. We also appreciated the friendliness of our servers in the dining room. Our only issue was the speed of service - it ended up taking two hours for us to complete lunch - I ... realize this is the result of this being a teaching environment but taking some steps to expedite this would be quite helpful I think and help to improve everyone’s experience. Going to PICA for the Baking and Pastry Program was the best 6 months of my life! I made some life-long connections with my peers and learned so much from the amazing chef instructors. It was great to get the basics down in foundations and then used those skills in ... advanced to be creative and explore with your own unique ideas! The classroom setting was great and it was amazing to bond over our love for food every day. I can't forget to mention how amazing all the staff are at PICA. I got to know everyone at the school and it was amazing to have some of the best people working at a school to help bring more amazing chefs into the industry! I only wish my time was longer at the school but I will always have so many fond memories of attending PICA 🩷 Thank you everyone at PICA for giving me the DREAM! Read more
