Reviews for Phnom Penh Restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia
This spot has been on my to go list for around 2 years at this point since everyone hypes it up. After a 90 min wait we finally got a table in the loud, busy restaurant. And you know what, the food was worth the wait! Everything we tried tasted amazing, ... and I was very happy to order way too much and stuff myself. Would highly recommend the butter beef and the chicken wings. Read more
Our dining experience was very enjoyable, though I'm uncertain if it justifies the wait. Nevertheless, I would recommend this restaurant. We arrived at 10:55 AM, just before the 11 AM opening, and found a long line already formed. Unfortunately, we weren't seated with the first wave of customers. Thankfully, the ... restaurant took our phone number and contacted us about 45 minutes later when our table was ready. The food was good and reasonably priced. The butter beef was tender and delicious, a definite highlight of the meal. However, the pho was average and didn’t stand out as anything special. The garlic squid, on the other hand, was exceptional. Comparable to gourmet garlic calamari, it’s a dish worth returning for. In summary, if there is no wait, I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. However, if you find yourself faced with a long wait, there are other dining options to consider. Read more
Amazing food, service is consistent. Ambiance and atmosphere are basic. Get the butter beef, chicken wings and beef lac lac. Fried rice too! Prices has definitely gone up a lot in the past two years and try to make a reso or you're waiting an hour or more. ... They also added 18% auto gratuity for a party of 6. Read more
Finally had the chance to check out Phnom Penh. I had to wait 1hour for a seat during the weekday dinner, but I'd say it was worth the wait. Butter Beef - Great dish. I can see why this is one of their more famous dishes. Great balance of flavors, fresh, ... and beautifully presented. Chicken Wings - The flavors are typical of what is expected at other Vietnamese restaurants that carry chicken wing (if you're familiar). The difference lies in the balance of the flavors and the crispiness that's present. Definitely must try! Fish Ball Soup with Rice Noodles - Very gentle flavors, not too much salt. Delicious. Something I've noticed is that, the most forward flavor among the dishes (among the ones I've tried) are the herbs and spices used. Not too much salt is tasted, very balanced flavors. I'm excited for my next visit where I hope to try the Bo Luc Lac and explore the menu more. Read more
Definitely worth the wait. We went Monday night but was super busy with 2 cranky kids. We return early Wednesday and within 30mins there was already a people waiting. Definitely one of the best fried chicken. Food came out super quick. So many items to try. Toddler really enjoyed the ... beef luc lac with rice. Can't wait to return and try more dishes. Read more
