U and I Thai Restaurant - Vancouver, British Columbia

I visited U & I Thai after 5 years. The food is still amazingly delicious. We ordered the Green Curry dish - which was very spicy but so unbelievably crazy good. So if you like spicy curries; this would be the dish for you!! We also ordered pineapple fried rice. This was ok. I ... wouldn't order this again; it had too much of a curry flavor and not really what I was expecting. The last thing we ordered was Authentic Pad Thai. This was really good. I always associate Pad Thai with Thai food. Now for the service. The service was not good at all. The waitress didn't bother coming by to ask us how was the first few bites. It wasn't until 1/2 way through the meal that she stopped by. Our order did have a few mistakes; out of courtesy she comped our rice that went with our green curry dish. Overall, if you don't mind fabulous food with slow service; then I would recommend this place. You just have to make sure that you're very clear on your order; especially if you have allergies to certain foods like broccoli, peanuts or if you don't like raisins in your rice etc. Read more

Nice and friendly service. Food was delicious and flavorful. A bit smaller portions than some other places, but still a decent amount. Reservations are recommended on weekends.

Soup is served if you order lunch special. Tatse fantastic. Original thai taste. Servers are friendly. Quiet and clean dining area. Stronglly suggest you to visit when you want to have a Thai meal.

We came and ordered from the lunch special menu. The first thing I would say is the tables were not clean, which was surprising since the rest of this retaurant is quite clean. Service was good. Oh they are actually Thai! Okay so the food. Overall, the portion sizes are ... quite small. Fried Rice: Average. Not too oily, nice generous portions of beef, but the garnishes take up about 1/3 of the plate. Red Curry: Average. Sweet, not too watery, a good milky consistency. It comes with rice! (why is that not a standard?) Came with bamboo, peppers, and chicken. Pad Thai: Okay, so if you are like me, you think "I always get pad thai, let's try something different." Their pad Thai is different. Above average. The noodles were cooked just right, and the flavor is what makes it unique. It's not just overwhelmingly sweet, but it has a complex flavor. Tasty and fairly authentic thai food at an affordable price. I would recommend their Duck Curry.
