Sushi King House - Vancouver, British Columbia

I have eaten sushi in many places, but never have I had it so I could say it was horrible. Until this place! They really don't know what they are doing. Had taco(octopus), and it was sliced in a way that made it super chewy, and very thin slices at ... that. Prawn tempura that was in some kind of pancake batter, with shrimp so tiny inside they were impossible to find much less taste, and try as I might could not choke this down and sent them back. Had 2 of their "special rolls" both inedible with loads of mayonnaise even though we specifically asked for none! Left most of those on the plate, and the tea was luke warm, I told him so, he smiled and filled our cups with more of the same. It wasn't cheap, the rolls were $10 each, the taco was $15, and the tempura was $10, but I didn't pay for the tempura. They should not be allowed to stay in business it is that bad! I'm surprised that after all these years they're still in business. So I thought that if they were, they must have improved their sushi. Not so. They do provide large portions but it's way too much rice for their rolls and the rice is still horribly mushy/not properly made. ... If only they would just concentrate on making decent rice and then make the rolls with less of it, it would be a big improvement. The lady who took my order was very nice, I only hope the people who make the sushi one day try to make better quality so she can keep working. Oh well, I won't return. Read more

Second time ordering take out here and second time being disappointed. This place has been opened for years and has become a bit of a staple in the neighborhood but its been okay thus far. The futomaki roll was big but mainly just rice. The minced crab meat was on the ... flavor-less side and the roll itself was just mediocre. Salmon sashimi was fresh and yummy. The chop scallop roll was big and the scallops were large and not diced to slivers which I appreciate. However, the flavor was very light and just had a lot of rice surrounding. Last time I ordered from here, the rice was too mushy. For cheap, quick sushi I would still stick with Samurai. Also, paid by debit but when I clicked 'no tip' the machine just declined my card 3 times until I told them I was clicking no tip and it suddenly worked. Read more

Fast and relaxed value style sushi restaurant. Although the prices have raised since last time we were here. It is understandable in a city like Vancouver though. They are famous for big sushi rolls. Pretty good meal today win will be back again in the future.

Absolutely love the food here. The sushi is huge and the prices are great. Their Chicken Teriyaki in particularly is really good and the California rolls are so filling. Limited room if you want to eat in.
