Sushi Hiyori - Vancouver, British Columbia

Discolored octopus, twice in a row. very unimpressive for a local shop. Im hard pressed to have to post this, typically i have had nothing but a great experience here. The saff is always welcoming the food is always great, including the tako sunomono.

I’m only rating this a 3 stars based on what we ordered. We got some interesting starter plates and some sushi and sashimi dishes which were not very good. The pros of Sushi Hiyori are that it has a good selection of creative dishes and good customer service. The cons ... are that the quality of the fish in the raw sushi and sashimi dishes are disappointing an the rice is heavy and hard. If you choose to eat here (which I don’t recommend) then make sure to order things like rolls that have lots of sauce to cover up the less then decent quality of the fish! Read more

Wow just wow. Be hard to top this sushi. We bought too much and ate the lot. Highly recommend.

I go to this place every now and then and love the food. I'm a big fan of spicy salmon sashini and somehow it's a tricky dish as most of the time comes as a surprise in sushi places that I don't already know. I really like the salmon dishes ... here, very fresh and tasty. The servers are very polite and not willing to chit-chat as much. I personally pick the regular sushi rolls and don't order from the specials because it usually comes with a lot of mayo in several flavours on the top. But the specials are very tasty too and my friends love them. Read more
