I have been coming here for years! Used to eat with them when they were in Burnaby near 6th and 6th! Definitely still worth the drive all the way out into Vancouver! Shanghai Lu is like the “last honest mechanic “ in town. Quality, Value, and Service is bar none! Its authentic OG style is not only delicious but every dish is made with a chef’s kiss! Our family loves this place and as a group of picky eaters we all give this ... place two thumbs up! We strongly recommend the set for six which comes with seafood soup, crab fried rice, steamed crab legs with garlic, pepper crab fried ( my favorite), sweet n sour pork chops, crispy chicken, veggie pea sprouts including soup and dessert. The owners are not only super sweet and friendly but they very thoughtful of their customers. For example,We had little person in our party that isn’t a seafood fan so they made sure to serve a couple of the non seafood dishes first so that she could also start eating. They also show you the massive live crabs first before cooking them to inspect for freshness and size. Crabs are from Alaska and Norway! Ten stars for Shanghai Lu plus free parking on the top floor! Shanghai Lu, one of our favourite chinese restaurant. Never disappointed. Reasonable price with big portion. Winnie always serve us like a family. She is the best 👍👍👍👍 This place is good enough for having family gathering or party. They could separate the room for private, with folded sliding door partition. Very recommended

Went for a big family dinner at Shanghai Lu Restaurant and ordered, in advance, the king crab & peking duck dinner (for 10 people). Cost was roughly $800. - Five kinds of cold cut platter - Steamed king crab claw with garlic - garlic sauce on top was marvelous. The king crab ... was slightly sweet, decadent and fresh. - Sautéed king crab feet with pepper salt - Fried rice on king crab shell with Portuguese sauce - Crispy duck skin with steamed flour pancake - Duck meat - Duck bone & tofu soup - Special crispy skin salted chicken - Braised mixed mushroom with pea tips - Dessert - we were given baked tapioca pudding Was an enjoyable feast at SLR but be ready to shell out those hundies. 3.5 stars. Went there for dinner and was impressed by most of their food. Although some dishes were on the salty side. Beijing duck, king crab courses especially the fried rice with crab meat were amazing.
