Always meant to visit Sala Thai downtown and finally visited in mid-April after they announced they would be closing. The interior with all the wood and decorative pieces were nice. It had a spacious interior and I could see why this place may have been popular in the past. Ordered the lunch ... special green curry ($19) which comes with a simple green salad and the spicy drunken noodles ($19). Not a bad price for downtown lunch. Also got the chicken satay ($6) and Thai iced tea with lime twist ($8) Food wise, it was ok but it wasn't the best either. Chicken satay was kinda dry and the curry lacked flavour. Maybe they were just calling it in since they were closing up. Service was also lacking. They completely forgot someone's order and didn't even think twice when they were bringing out everyone else's dishes. Had to flag someone down to ask about it and they didn't even apologize for forgetting to put the order in. Read more
This place has really went downhill no wonder they are closing. The only reason why I came was because they are closing their doors on April 28th 2024. It wasn’t even worth the last visit. The service was horrible, the food was not worth the value and everything was lacking ... in flavor. I ordered a pad Thai and they brought the tomato version but I wanted the one made with tamarind sauce. They took it back and said they will re make it and it took an hour by that time we were done our dinner and the dish was awful. We also ordered a green curry with chicken and the was cold. I told the server and she brought it to the kitchen microwaved it for maybe 20 seconds and brought it back out. It still wasn’t hot enough very un-enjoyable experience. For those who use to know this place as authentic Thai I’m sure many would be disappointed as seeing the last couple weeks of service the restaurant doesn’t take pride to make their restaurant memorable. Went for the first time with family. Overall I was surprised and happy with the service and food. The seat was available right away and food service was great as well. We didn’t get to try much options because we didn’t have the appetite. Next time looking forward to trying ... more dishes on the menu. I did find their fried rice to lack flavor and just plain rice with chicken which aren’t really traditional Thai rice which comes with egg and spicy sauces. Read more
We ordered samosas, some drinks and chicken curry mild. This place has really good Indian food is always above expectations. The mild wasn’t spicy at all. If you like spicy maybe add a little bit more. The rice was basmati and really good too. We ordered a rose wine (a ... little too sweet, but it said that in the menu). Great place for groups. We made a reservation because sometimes it gets crowded. I really recommend it! Read more
We had a party to celebrate my friend, and there were 9 of us. The restaurant was able to set up a semi-private table for us, allowing us to enjoy the food, chat loudly lol, and take lots of photos. We had a great time. One of my friends, who ... wasn't familiar with Thai food, became addicted to it and learned a lot about Thai cuisine. The service was professional, and the food was amazing.
