Rue 909 Sushi - Vancouver, British Columbia

I was visiting from out of town. I was walking by and randomly stopped here. Got the Spicy Sushi Combo and it was a great balance of spice and flavor. Definitely happy I stopped here. Zero regrets.

Spicy combo tastes great but a bit underwhelmed on size of fish in rolls. For $17 for 3 rolls which is about $6 a roll. A “spicy” salmon and cucumber roll should have more salmon. A quick curbside pickup for an afternoon snack, I got a Yam Tempura Roll さつまいもの天ぷら with black rice. This joint has real potential, awesome little cost eatery with cute interior, minimalistic decor with a great value for money menu and plenty of vegetarian options. In terms of the taste, the rice and ... Yam were so undercooked they crumbled as well as stuck to my packaging. Both difficult to eat and not very enjoyable. I love to support local businesses, and sushi is super yummy but I have to be honest this was not up to scratch for Vancouver. Read more

They claim to have the best spicy sushi and it was pretty good. Service was fast, very friendly and cheerful staff. It has an unassuming entrance and you do have to go downstairs as if you are entering a rumpus room. The decor is plain and it is in need ... of a refresh but not a deal breaker. Read more

Four stars if you are looking for cheap and cheerful sushi downtown. Service is quick, good for take out or dine in. I’ll drop by every few weeks if I don’t have a lot of time or want to spend a lot of $$ for sushi. I like the street ... level window seat, an excellent perch to eat and people watch.
