All the reviews gave a very positive experience. I’m not sure if it’s just me having a different palette or we were just unlucky today. The servings were small, all rice and only a few pieces of meat. Takoyaki was presented nicely and the taste was ok, but the octopus ... piece inside was tough I couldn’t chew it. My husband said it was the worst $50 of his life. I’m sorry. Read more
It's a small place not as easy to find seating with a bigger group. Wasn't busy on weekend, the sashimi is fresh but limited in variety as they cannot accommodate substitutions for the assorted.
I had Katsu Curry. The curry and the katsu were super. But the rice was not fresh. The little salad mess was terrible. I enjoyed the space and atmosphere. I commented about the rice to staff and they checked it out. I believe this is good place to eat. I ... just the bad experience with the rice. Read more
We got a tonari set ($21.05 CAD) and chankodon ($15.55) to go in the late evening on a Wednesday. There were only two occupied tables inside and so the wait for our food was only about 10 minutes. Chankodon: There are a lot of vegetables on this dish, but mostly shiitake ... mushrooms. It does come with gyudon beef slices as the primary protein, but it there were literally only 2 chunks of chicken. It came with a shrimp and two slices of tofu as well. However, it's well put together and tastes like a gyudon. All of this is served over a generous bowl of rice and comes with a small side of miso soup. Tonari set: It comes with a small chirashi of fresh seafood and a small gyudon with chicken. Both are good. The gyudon is similar to the chankodon in that there is plenty of beef with seasoned eggs, and only a few chunks of marinated chicken. The chirashi has quite an assortment of various seafood and light fare. Modest but fresh and sure to please any seafood lover. Comes with a lot of wasabi/horseradish. Overall very good food and reasonable prices. Okay value for the food for the cost. Tastes pretty authentically Japanese, for those who want a taste of Japanese dons. Read more
I had the wahoo shokuya and the sashimi and rolls were very good, the tuna was really good. The noodles were nothing special but a nice addition to the meal. The miso soup was really good. The tempura was good but the yam tempura was slightly undercooked. Would visit again ... to try other things Read more
