Excellent for authentic Peking Duck, served in a variety of different presentations. Helpful, friendly staff suggesting things that I wouldn’t have considered, but turned out to be amazing! Highly recommend!

I loved the food in this place. I went with my Chinese friends so they would guide me through the experience. We had the Peking duck, sweet and sour pork tenderloin, a couple of salad dishes and a rice cake desert. All with a simple, straightforward presentation but tasty. Hu Tong is authentic in flavor, atmosphere and service. This is the best Peking duck I've eaten in North America. The side dishes from duck gizzard to duck tongue were spot on too. Let me be honest - I can see this not being a great experience you don't speak fluent ... Chinese, or understand the "angry but passionate uncle" shop owner that's very common in Beijing. I thought that added a layer of authenticity that made me feel as though I were in China. I strongly recommend fluency in Chinese for someone in your party and to call in advance to reserve a duck. Best Peking Duck in Vancouver! I had to say the owner/ boss is a really smart and nice guy. He was talking with other customers when one of our friend drop her chopsticks, he react within 2 second (without looking!!!!) and ask the server to give us a new pair. The duck is delicious and our group thought it was well worth the money. The set duck price comes with masterfully cut duck pieces, crispy duck skin with cane sugar for dipping (like Asian chicharron), and all the accoutrements for Chinese duck pancakes. I've tried Peking duck on both city ... coasts of North America with a large Chinese population. Trust me, this place delivers as advertised when you're craving Peking duck pancakes. There are only a limited amount of ducks roasted per day though so be sure to call ahead and reserve one. We also got a cold side dish of duck gizzards and were pleasantly surprised. The texture was tender, and flavors were on point. Everything went perfectly with their house brewed IPA. It definitely helps if one of your party speaks Mandarin so the language barrier isn't as difficult if you have any questions or special requests. We also read the entertainingly bad Google reviews talking about the poor customer service and management before coming here. We did not experience this. They were warm and welcoming. Read more
