Hoshi Sushi - Vancouver, British Columbia

With all due respect, has everyone reviewing this place never been out for sushi? Vancouver has a number of great places, several medicocre spots...this was far, far below average. Yam tempura roll loose and full of mainly lettuce, hard rice, soggy items. Only edible item was the seaweed salad, which ... is pretty standard, you can buy it anywhere and it always tastes the same. Somewhat small space, not great for groups eating in. Staff are very nice and accommodating. Door looks challenging for mobility aids but there are some tables fit for wheelchairs. Excellent food and gluten free soy sauce upon request.

Very friendly staff. I think he might've been the owner? He smiled a lot and chatted a bit. One of the best places i've tried! We had a great experience here. The rolls were amazing and the yam tempura was definitely the best I ever had, ever! I would come ... again just for the delicious yam tempura!! So good. Read more

I think this has changed owners recently. Shouldn’t make a difference but it did. This is by no means top notch sushi but it was.... is a good place to go in a bind. Service is fine. The quality of the food has gone down though. Don’t order the gyoza or the beef ... teriyaki roll. I’m also not convinced about the low sodium soy sauce. Read more

Hoshi is our go to neighborhood sushi spot. The staff are friendly and keep the tea flowing. It's reasonably priced and seems pretty fresh. It's not a blow your mind delicious Japanese food experience, but is a great spot for a quick bite or for take out. We have ordered ... their trays before which seem to be a bit better value for hosting a party or event. Read more
