Food Quality is better than majority of other Chinese restaurants I believe all of these in Vancouver taste relatively the same LOL. We celebrated my nephews birthday here and had a good experience. We ordered a lot of dishes and each being good for Chinese food. Live fish tank as ... always but I think one tank of fish looks like they aint doing so well…anywho good food! Read more
Went around early November 2023. It was a last minute craving of Peking duck, and it did not disappoint! We had 2 courses Peking duck, as well as crab with egg noodle in cream sauce! I’ve been craving it again recently. There were 4-5 tables of diners when we got there, ... we were the last to leave. We got there pretty late. :P We did leave long before their actual closing time though. Service was prompt and efficient. Staff were friendly and have a sense of humour when we were joking that it’s hard to get out of the booth because we ate too much. (At some points though, we did feel bad that we were the last customers and they look like they all want to go home, they were chatting behind the counter while kept on looking at us - it did feel like they were talking about us. Good things the experiences ended off on a good note!) Food was good, and we enjoyed our time there. Nothing to complain about really. We would go back there again :) P.S: When I was here the first time years ago, I remember liking their watercress soup a lot. Unpopular opinion is that I didn’t care for the lobster sticky rice at all. It was so so at best, not something I would personally order again. Read more
We decided to conclude 2023 with a Chinese meal, so we booked Ho Yuen Kee as my friends wanted to try the lobster sticky rice. The lobster sticky rice, as usual, is finger-licking good. The lobster is about 3 lbs, and we ordered two portions of sticky rice. It's enough to ... let the 6 of us have a fair amount of both. The Peking duck in two ways was a convenient choice for us. The stir fried duck meat served with lettuce wrap was very tasty, but the duck skin was a bit dry and the portion was quite small. The beef loin in Chinese sauce was pretty good. The meat was tender and the sauce alone could make you finish a bowl of rice. The broccoli dish was in generous portion. There were quite a lot of bamboo fungus and mushrooms. Read more
Food is pretty good honestly, especially the price is quite reasonable when you compare to other Richmond Chinese restaurants. Lobster rice is not as good as before the pandemic, crab and fish are great! Service is not bad when it’s not busy; when busy, a bit hard to get attention from ... servers. Interior is really good. Good thing is you can use credit card, but Visa only. Overall, it’s good place for family/friends gathering at a affordable price. Read more
We wanted a light porridge lunch. So we order a few different porridge, they taste not bad. But the beef noodle is not up to expectations a bit starchy and bland. Hong Kong style restaurant.
