H-Mart Cafe - Vancouver, British Columbia

My bf is Korean. That is why we get used to going to H-Mart. I was alone today and wanted to check the first floor. The security was behind me all the time. I had a thousand-time eye contact with him. I felt really bad. I can understand that he ... is checking and he is responsible for the security. However, he moved with me all the time. Goodness…Whatever, the products are so good. Everything is so fresh. Also, there is a wide variety of products. I like to discover new products when I shop here. They offer such a variety of Asian foods, including live seafood. I only went in with the mission of buying kimchi, but walked out with some drinks as well. Everything was delicious, and the staff are friendly. It also has a public restroom which came in handy.

Good prices, good food, and most importantly they gave good portions. They didn't skimp out on the ingredients and gave plenty of fish cakes and rice cakes. Would definitely visit again in the future. This is a good place to get a taste of korean food without breaking your bank ... account as many korean restaurants in Metro Vancouver are pretty expensive these days. There was a kiosk to order your food and I think it only takes card. This was on the 2nd floor of Hmart and I believe there's other food stalls? Unfortunately I didn't visit the food stall right beside where I ordered (but it looked like they had deep fried/bbq menu items?). However the one I ordered from was yummy. Read more

I am so lucky to have this place near my work! I almost have every my work days lunch in this food court. They might have new chef emonim or ownership. Since a few months ago, menu, food quality became unbelievably good also price range is amazing. (All those menu ... in pictures are around $15) Fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, taste like my mom’s food from Korea. Japanese lady at counter is also very delightful. Read more

As talked to a Foodie friend about Korean foods the night before, I felt craving for K-foods today and I went to the H-mart in downtown to refill some Korean spicy noodles and had a late lunch there. This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of H-mart with some Window ... seats. You can call this place a mini-foodcourt with ample of choices for Korean dishes. I am a K-foods lover. Before I arrived Vancouver, I dined out for K-cuisine frequently in Hong Kong and the K-foods are often quite pricey but not value for money. I have been to H-mart several time and I didn’t have much expectation on the food stall inside the supermarket, but surprisingly the quality was good and the portion exceeded my expectation in terms of price. I ordered Stone pot BBQ beef with beansprouts and glass noodles and Sweet and Spicy fried Chicken (small size). The stone pot BBQ beef tasted authentic (I could see the chef and servers are all Koreans). It would be better if there were more beef and glass noodles. It came with rice and Kimchee. The sweet and spicy fried chicken was crispy and delicious. Small size portion was not small for one person and I didn’t waste any foods. :) For the environment and service perspectives, the place was not crowded. It was tidy and having good air ventilation.
