Reviews for Cafe de l’Orangerie in Vancouver, British Columbia
Nice neighborhood eatery, more than a cafe as it’s all service restaurant food all day, not only a coffee/croissant place. Masago spaghetti was good, their popular dish. Good size portion if you want pasta but not much protein other than a few bits of squid here and there. Sit down restaurant, ... good vibe for Marpole as not much in the area. Parking pretty tight here so lots of free side street parking. Friendly service. Wouldn’t mind trying their desserts next time, looked good, but not anytime soon as they don’t accept Amex. Read more
We ordered 2 dishes and a smoothie for lunch. The chicken Nanban is crispy and delicious. The curry sauce is great combined with chicken. The smoothie was not too sweet which I like it. Will go again to try the dessert next time, it looks delicious to me.
Japanese and Italian combination great. Prices very affordable, dishes around $17 Katsu Don was very crispy Desserts were delicious too. Europeon style chocolate was good
The service was prompt and pleasant. The Vienna coffee was excellent, but unfortunately, the food didn't suit my taste. It's simply a matter of personal preference; I'm unfamiliar with this cuisine and found it not to my liking. Even the hamburger I ordered had a distinct taste that wasn't to ... my preference. Got carbonara with Hamburger. Hamburger as someone else has mentioned is not juicy and the texture is kind of gross like it has too much flour or some kind of filler making it feel like a brownie cake texture. Hamburger in Japan is soft and juicy but not sticky cake ... like texture. I get that the meat is different here but I'd rather it is more ground beef feel instead of cakey. The carbonara itself lacks flavor and more watery than creamy. Also got the chicken katsu Curry. Curry is too sour to our liking and doesn't have pickled radish etc side for the crunch. Was hoping for better taste that other reviews have had... but perhaps they have a different chef throughout the week??? Read more
