My friends took me to Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen during my stay in Vancouver. I ordered the Special Crab Soup with Vermicelli, and trust me, you will love it afterwards. Second time here and it was tasty AF. The soup was great, with herbs added, it was the perfect rich pho broth balance. Meat was fresh and plentiful, the entire bowl was very filling. The crab flavored pho was great too, my wife loved it. Only thing was it wasn't ... the cleanest of meals. I had instant extreme stomach ache 15 mins after the meal, and my entire family had minor diarrhea the next day. No food poisoning though. The crab noodles soup was amazing - springy rice noodles drenched in a savoury crab broth and topped with a generous portion of meats, cuttlefish fish and prawns. Add some fresh bean sprouts, lettuce and a squeeze of lemon to just make it perfect. Also had the fried chicken. Though ... it was tasty it seemed to miss that crunchy and “special seasoning” from That Other Cambodian restaurant. Service was fast and curt. Ethnic background music was loud to cover up the rather noisy toddlers that seem to fill half the place (Young parents, there is a difference between free spirit and running amok). My god. The Bun Cha Ca (#24) was freaking amazing. I am a big Vietnamese food lover but usually always get pho or vermicelli. But my friend took me here saying that this restaurants specially is Bun Cha Ca and it’s a MUST have. Was not wrong. It was amazing ... and I already want to go back. Read more

Food for two: $60 including drinks. Positive: this place is famous for their vietnamese fish cake and squid cake in Canada. Interior is clean, spacious, neat decor. Food was delicious, fresh and pho broth was clear yet seasoned well. Prices are great for 2024. Service is just as good. Bathroom are ... well maintained. Free street parking is available. Cons: None Food for thought: its look like a hole in the wall restuarant that may be mistaken for mediocrity. But this place has survived through word of mouth, with delicious, well priced menus.
