Sukhothai - Toronto, Ontario

Whilst the Front, Dundas West and Wellington locations of Sukhothai are much more Instagrammable, this Parliament location is the we keep coming back to. It's simple, unpretentious, homey. Service is better than the other locations and food is always consistent and delicious. We did make a reservation but there were quite a ... few empty tables when we arrived on a week night around 7pm. Given the size of the restaurant though, better to have a reservation especially on the weekend. The restaurant was soon bustling with full tables and Uber eats orders coming in every every minute but servers were still attentive and food came out pretty quick. All three of our orders came out together and moderately hot. We ordered the Khao Soi, the Nua Gra Teaum and the Tom Yum Kung - everything in moderate spice and ate family style. The Khao Soi is one of the messiest things to eat but also one of the yummiest. Tom Yum was flavorful, the shrimps were tasty. The Nua Gra Teaum didn't disappoint either. Great thai food, well seasoned, authentic and for those who don't eat spicy food they can choose the level of spicy they want. The prices are fair for what you get regarding quantity and quality, i couldn't finish my plate but enjoyed every bite. I tried the khao soi ... and the gaeng masaman. The place is relatively small and comfortable, but you can notice how good the place is by the big amount of take out orders they get, it was amazing how busy they were. I wasnt sure how good or bad the place would be but a friend recommended that our group (of 15) go their for dinner and to celebrate a friends birthday. In the end it ended up being a pretty amazing experience. The food was ok. I had the chicken pad ... thai which was quite typical but the portion size was so large that I ended up taking half of it home for the next days dinner (and this is coming from a south Asian dude who eats like crazy). Probably the most flavorful think on pur table was the masuman curry which had an amazing flavorful but the potatoes in the curry were slightly undercooked. Overall the food had an amazing presentation and was brought out in a fairly timely manner. But the reason I'm giving a five star is because of the amazing level of service. Wed brought some cake for the friend and the employees were happy to take it and bring it back out with candles in and lit. They were also quite happy to accommodate our big part of 15 which ended up taking overabout half the available seating space. The only really negative to my experience was that their payment system. Is really slow. It took more then 15 minutes to get through all of us. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend going at least once. Read more

This is by far my favourite Thai food! It is so delicious, I love the curries, fresh spring rolls and the soups! The only down side is the service is not the best but the food definitely makes up for it. I have this a lot and have yet to ... be disappointed! First off, the food was great. Very tasty Thai food. Excellent portions for a good price. I have had better Curry, but it was good nonetheless. Service, however, was lacking. We had to seat ourselves. Other than that, it was a great place.
