4.5/5 Went here for an anniversary and it was a great experience. Highlights were the sashimi (bluefin tuna was amazing), snow crab, and strawberry mousse dessert. One of us got the wagyu but didn’t think it was worth the extra $40.
I recently visited Sushi Kaji for my birthday with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Here’s a breakdown of my visit: Ambiance and Service: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt more like a fast food joint than an authentic sushi restaurant. The environment ... was rushed and impersonal, lacking the intimate, one-on-one chef experience that makes sushi dining special. Instead of a personalized touch, the whole process felt like a factory assembly line, with little attention to detail or customer interaction. Sushi Quality: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ The sushi itself was decent, but not outstanding. While the ingredients seemed fresh, the preparation lacked the finesse and care you expect from a high-end sushi place. The pieces were quickly assembled and lacked the delicate artistry that should accompany such cuisine. Overall Experience: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ The overall experience at Sushi Kaji was underwhelming. The hurried service and impersonal atmosphere significantly detracted from the meal. Dining at a sushi restaurant should be an engaging and refined experience, but this felt more like grabbing a quick bite at a fast food outlet. There was no sense of connection with the chef or appreciation for the culinary craft, which was quite disappointing. In summary, Sushi Kaji did not live up to its reputation. If you’re looking for a quick sushi fix, it might suffice, but if you’re seeking an authentic and immersive sushi experience, this place falls short. Overall Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) Read more
I really enjoyed this omakase! The selections were tasty and unique! Starting with the first bite of seabream, which was so full of flavour, it really set the standard for the rest of the meal. I was also full after the meal! Highly suggest for a special treat!
Delicious dinner with some of the best fish I’ve ever had. Incredibly fresh and varied selection. The uni was perfect. Was a bit disappointed by the cook on the wagyu, as it lacked flavour on its own outside of the broth. The tempura was quite oily but very tasty. Otherwise ... it was a great meal and experience! 4.8/5 Fantastic dining experience provided by an authentically Japanese sushi restaurant. The Omakase menu consisted of 4 appetizers, 8-10 pieces of sushi, and a desert. One can upgrade to include Sukiyaki or any number of premium sushi pieces. We opted for Uni as part of our meal. The food was delicious and fresh. ... Their dishware and plating was beautiful and each bite was a unique combination of flavours and textures. It was the most authentic sushi experience I’ve had thus far in Toronto. Wonderful place to visit if you’re looking for a treat! Side note: Street parking only. Dining is limited to around 90 mins so it was a relatively short experience. Read more
