Milagro - Toronto, Ontario

We (2) had an early-ish dinner at Milagro's before heading to a show. We made reservations and were seated right away. We started with wine for me and a Mango Mule for my partner. Both were very good. We decided to split some meals and had the AGUACHILE shrimp crudo, ... and grilled vegetable enchilada. Both were fantastic. Decent Mexican restaurant near the entertainment district. Has been there for years. Food is good. Service is good. A bit dark and dated on the inside but decent vibe. Went with friends. Disappointed as we expected more after reading the reviews. Service - initially the server was friendly and attentive. However, after explaining the menu we literally had to flag someone down to order drinks, food, etc. They also didn’t clear our appetizer plates until they brought the main. No one ever asked ... how our meal was, if we enjoyed our orders. Spicy margarita was alright, but we’ve had better. Guacamole starter was over salted. Tortilla soup was very disappointing- probably the worst I’ve ever had. There was an overpowering taste of what seemed to be smoked paprika. Very off-putting. Tacos al pastor were okay but the ratio of meat and toppings on the tortilla were bare. For the price they cheaped out. The menu said there was pineapple (which we thought would be like a pineapple salsa) but it was literally one chunk of pineapple per taco. Fish tacos were okay except for too many pickled onions which overwhelmed the taste. Don’t think we would return or recommend. Read more

I stumbled upon this lovely restaurant after a Toronto Blue Jays game and amongst the crowds of people, they were lining up to get into this cute restaurant. I got in luckily and sat at the bar where I had immediate great service. I had the Trio Guacamole and ... Tacos Perla with a glass of white wine. Very tasty ! I could have used some fish in the tacos to be honest - fresh not frozen. Other than that it was a great place for Mexican food after a game in the heart of Toronto. Service:5 food:4.5 atmosphere:5 Overall a good experience. The food was Good. Lamb shank was Wednesday special, well cooked came with smashed butter potatoes, rich in taste. Tacos Pastor with pulled pork was also good. Drinks were good as well especially the spicy margarita. Got Ceviche De Huachinango for appetizer, it’s okay ... though. Overall good vibe and food.
