Viva Shawarma - Toronto, Ontario

I think they did me dirty on this one… why so much hot sauce? I’ve been trying to find Shawarma that rivals what you can get in Ottawa. I haven’t found the one, and the garlic at most if not all places is runny and not that thick flavour Bomb ... you’d get in Ottawa. Note: I’m not from Ottawa. Staff was super friendly. The price points are fair, but the food wasn’t that great, so the value equation is a bust. Got the a chicken plate and sandwich (my wife’s go to) and we both were not impressed. Also, not sure why they put so much hot sauce, I did not ask for extra, I did say spicy, which should be spice level and not volume of sauce…maybe it was an accident, but it ruined the dish. Lots of good reviews here, so I might go back and try it again on a different day and at a different hour. I will say that the rice was good, the pickled turnips were good, and a good amount of hummus. If you need a shawarma fix, I don’t think this is the spot. However, if you want to try something different and support local, give it a try. Make sure they don’t drown your food in hot sauce. Read more

First time customer to this establishment. And i have to say, it's now going to be my new favorite spot for wraps. I have been meaning to find a shawarma spot close by, now i have one. The beef wrap i got was filled with flavor and the tahini and ... garlic sauce really brought out the beef. I am glad i have a healthy alternative to rely on, for good food. Read more

One of the best places to have shawarma either on plate or as wrap. I ordered the mixed plate (beef & chicken) with half fries and half rice. Fresh ingredients are always prepared and portions are more than generous. The owner is a very wholesome person who puts love into ... every meal he makes. Really great and fresh food. Small unassuming location, but super friendly and delicious! We had the falafel and chicken shawarma plate. Both really good. Fresh, properly cooked rice, crispy fries, fresh moist chicken, and fantastic coleslaw! And well priced too! Chickpea salad was also flavourful and fresh. Very fresh vegetables and toppings, special viva (house) yogurt sauce is very nice. Service was very friendly and accommodating, just be specific and let them know how much you want for the veggies/lettuce.
