Sushi-Ya Japan - Toronto, Ontario

I was in the area and was searching for high rated Japanese restaurants and stumbled on this hidden gem. The parking is a bit small and secluded, but I’ve read other reviews where you can park across the street. The atmosphere feels like I’m in Japan. It’s has a cozy ... dim ambiance. I’ve driven past this place many times and never given it a second thought. I’m so glad I decided to eat here. The service was a bit slow, but it’s understandable because you can tell each dish is made with detail and care. The food was amazing, delicious and fresh. I ordered the sashimi appetizer to start. I usually love salmon sashimi but I didn’t really enjoy it. I really enjoyed the other sashimi more. It was delicious. The rolls were really good. I loved the cream roll (wrapped with cucumber). It was light and refreshing. I also ordered the Samurai, it was deep fried, crispy and delicious. The only thing I would do different is ask for a bit less sauce. That’s just a personal preference. Overall I loved the atmosphere and the food. It’s so hard to find sushi restaurants with delicious rolls. This has easily made it to my top favourite sushi restaurants. I had an awesome experience. If I recall this is the second time I ate at this establishment. I was able to get a seat quickly during Anine North making it very convenient. The waitress peovided excellent service and answered all of my questions. The food (nabe udon) was decent enough but I wasn't blown away. The variety ... of seafood (mussels, shrimp, squid I believe) is superb. The ambiance and decor is homely and aesthetically pleasing if a bit 🖤DaRk🖤. All in all, if you need a place to eat Asian food (Japanese) quickly for good value I highly recommend this restaurant! Read more

Came here for my birthday dinner with my family and I had an exceptional experience. We got sat nice and close and got to watch the sushi chefs make everything right infront of us. It was an awesome experience as all staff members interacted with our table and we were ... very taken care of. The service was excellent and the food was fresh and delicious. If you are closer to the airport and wanna have a bite before dropping or after picking up family and friends. Then this sushi place is a gem. It’s just 10 min drive from the terminal.
