Update August 2018: Unfortunately Crazy Don has closed. Another restaurant is coming in this space. Damn good curry chicken katsu, item K10, for lunch from a huge menu. Honestly, for the price the two katsu pieces were generously sized, the chicken breast meat inside moist and tender, and the crust super light ... and crispy without an oily taste. I've had lunch here before and since, and the katsu was good but this particular time it was amazing. The Japanese curry sauce with potato chunks tasted exactly like what I expected, mild and a touch sweet. The mashed potato was creamy Korean style with apple bits in it, the simple salad and dressing was light, and the serving of rice might be a undersized for those who like to eat a lot of it with their meals. The miso soup was decent with pieces of seaweed in it. The cabbage kimchee was straightforward in style, as was the pickled radish, which I prefer cubed a little larger. And the cup of tea was good. I sat by the large windows facing Yonge Street and didn't wait too long for service in any way and, when it came to pay, I did so by credit card and chose the option to leave a specific dollar amount as my tip. Parking is available on the street, in a nearby Green P, and it is steps from North York Centre subway station. I hope your katsu turns out as good as mine was this time. Read more
