Albert’s Real Jamaican Food - Toronto, Ontario

I was looking to find a soup on a Sunday night in luckily they had chicken soup because I wasn't feeling too good but damn didn't realize it was $16 for a large OMG. Price on the menu said it was only $12 for the size I bought guess it ... was updated I was kind of shocked when she told me the total price for two soups. It is a decent sized soup but not sure is it $16 worth. This place used to be reasonably priced in the food used to be a bit better I think they fell off a bit. Ordered the combo which comes with rice and peas, coleslaw and choice of two meats. I selected the jerk chicken and ox tail which tasted great. Tried Albert's for the first time since the 90s. It's always one of those places that people seem to love, yet I couldn't remember why I don't go. Had a roti and asked for extra gravey, yet it was dry. Decent portion size though. Cod fritters were old old and so ... hard I just threw it away. Restaurant is clean but could use a redecorating. Staff is friendly. Overall, they charge too much for what you get and the quality isn't great. Read more

Hadn't been here in YEARS. Tried it again recently and wish I hadn't even bothered. Should've just stayed away. Back in the day, Albert's had some of the best Caribbean Food around. Going back this time tells me that they either changed cooks or they've gotten lazy and just don't ... care anymore. The food was stale and flavorless. There was more gravy and rice than actual meat. The fried chicken was so so DRY and had no seasoning. The oxtail was mostly bones and like I said, there was more gravy and rice than anything else. They charge way too much for what you get and the quality of what you get. Waste of money. Food was just too nasty to eat and was thrown in the trash. Save your money! Go elsewhere! Read more
