The food here is amazing! I had the best grilled octupus and gnocchi. Their cheesecake desert is the best cheese cake I've ever had! Everyrhing tasted fresh and light! I'll now go to this place over Gratzie or La vecchia just for the food in the midtown !

Very trendy place. The menus are hard to read though. Came here for summerlicious with two friends with reservations. Upon arriving, I was seated 10 minutes later EVEN with reservations and there being plenty of available seating. Once I was seated, however, the service was great. We were constantly attended to by a ... friendly server and he was always helping out and giving suggestions. I ordered the mussels, ribs, and chocolate cake. The mussels were fantastic, but the ribs tasted a bit burnt and weren't quite as "fall-off-the-bone" tender as I would have liked. The chocolate was overly rich for my tastes, but that's my fault since I should have known given I don't have a sweet tooth. Portion sizes seem to vary wildly. My friend got the steak, but his portions were maybe 30% smaller compared to the portions that another guest received at another table. My portion of ribs was smaller than my other friends portion, but not to the same degree. I would come back here again, but I would change up my order. It's a cool place with nice ambiance. The Italian restaurants around the area tend to be hit or miss, depending on if they cater to families or go for high quality, I have found Five Doors North to be a great in-between. The atmosphere is very relaxed and open, with gentle lighting and casual seating. The food ... was very good, and the prices were very reasonable. Service was somewhat slow but that was okay as there was a large group in our area and the staff were very friendly. The bathrooms however were very small. Surprisingly good! It's not that fancy but you can really find authentic Italian food here. Focaccia tastes just like the one we had in Italy, and the beet salad/steak is top notch as well. Dessert is just so-so. Will definitely revisit.
