Epicure Cafe & Grill - Toronto, Ontario

Epicure Café is a pub by Queen and Portland. They have a rooftop patio and also an indoor area. The indoor area is quite dark and a little bit run down in terms of design and atmosphere. I came here for lunch and they had sandwiches, burgers, pasta and pizza ... on their menu. I got the Swiss deluxe burger and got a half/half portion of fries and Caesar salad. It was nice to get half portions for the sides. When the food came, I thought the portion they gave us was quite generous as my plate was filled with food. Quantity is good but how is quality? Quality is just alright. The burger tasted like normal burger. Nothing too special or crazy. The fries and Caesar salad were on par too. Just average in terms of taste. It was quite quiet during the lunch hour as it was my party and just one other table. Even though there was no one, service was quite slow. I used to come here a couple of years ago so I decided to try it again. The quality and taste of the food has really gone down hill. The menu is so large, its quantity over quality now for sure. I ordered escargot in mushrooms and they put yellow ... cheddar cheese in their melted cheese blend. Good lord. I also ordered the antipasto platter and it came with shredded parm. I have idea why you would serve it like that. The service was good but with so many options to dine around this block, I would pass on ever coming back. Read more

A great little rooftop patio ! Took us a while to figure out where to go. It's like a big house. The burgers were excellent and the beer was cold. Service was very good once we found someone..:) Highly recommend it for a sunny afternoon!!

Fabulous restaurant! I chose them after looking at online reviews of places I could hold my 50th birthday party at. The staff were wonderful, I was able to book a private room (without a minimum spend), and they moved us to a bigger room so that we could sit in a ... square and more easily converse. Been here twice and LOVED it! We had burgers with frites AND salad, and everything was delicious. On my way there again now. I'm surprised to see so many bad reviews. We had fast service, excellent food, and a fancy setting. The only thing I would avoid next are the ... espresso bevvies. They are VERY overpriced. $5 for a latte is ridiculous. Read more
