They cook only old meat to costomers -------- Old and smelly meet kebab They gave two old meals of beef kebab to my husband today May 17 2024 afternoon. As soon as we opened the meal box, the smell of old meat was ... obviously disgusting. I had to reorder another food from another restaurant as I did not want to food poison my child. We were five of us ordered together; however, meals served not at the same time, I had to wait 30 minutes, this is not a good hospitality. My husband and I went here a few weeks ago, on the last weekend before New Year's. It was a Saturday and we went for lunch. The restaurant was not that busy when we entered, but still we waited more than 5 minutes to be seated, despite there being several ... empty tables and several servers walking around. They had a sign that said 'Please Wait to be Seated'. So we did. When the girl at the takeout counter finally caught our eye, she just pointed to some of the tables in front of the counter and said, "Sit anywhere." So we sat down and browsed the menu on our phones. During this time, no one came to greet us or to tell us how the ordering worked. Finally, after 10 mins of waiting, my husband went to the counter and placed our order. We both got the mixed grill plate with a lamb kabob, beef boti, and chicken pieces. The chicken was not as flavourful but the lamb and beef were amazing. The rice and garlic sauce were also good, and everything was delicious. But the service was extremely lacking. During the time we ate our food, there was no one who came by, even the restaurant was not that busy. When we were getting ready to finish up, it started to become busy then. I asked one of the servers for a yo-yo box and he basically just thrust it at me when he gave it to me, his eyes on the ever growing line. The food was 5/5 but the service was a 2. A small little place with a big heart that is what sumac Kitechen is. We went there wanting to try something and ended up having their biggest platter and it was so fresh and tasty two people finished the whole platter in no time. When we first saw the platter we ... were very sceptical as to what we ordered was right for us just because we saw it online and wanted to try it and the person behind the counter said to have it so he could make more money. But all of our thoughts were wrong once the dish came, because the way it is made is clean and the flavours are really nice and it doesn't seem heavy at all. I think for our first meal of the day we made the right choice choosing this place. Our timing was really great so that we didnt have a long wait time and seats and not fighting with online orders(they shelled out 4 orders online while we were there). The songs were beautiful on their stereo and the weather was really great with birds chirping making it even better. We had a fantastic irani tea to finish the meal. Their places are adorned with intricate decor from their country and its really cute.Its a really great place to get together and share and grab a meal. We would recommend you to go to the place and get it. We recommend eating it as fresh as you can. We recommend sharing the meal as it is supposed to be. If you go to the Art Gallery of Ontario and are hungry from all the walking and hours of staring in the gallery, go to Sumac Kebab kitchen for a feast on a budget. We ordered Chicken and Veal Sandwich, Beef koobideh (beef with rice) and two different types of ... yogurt (cucumber and eggplant). Amazing food!
