Matahari - Toronto, Ontario

This is our first time trying out this restaurant although it’s been around for a long time. I’m glad we did, we may have just found our new date night spot. We love the Calamari Matahari and the Tofu Goreng. We ordered so many dishes because we both love Indonesian ... food. The Green Beans Sambal with prawns and Mee Goreng were very good too. The Rendang is so tender and melts in your mouth, but could use a bit more spice and salt. This restaurant is probably more Malay than it is Indonesian, but either way, we enjoyed it. This was my second visit to this wonderful Malaysian spot downtown. I had the seafood curry which was perfectly flavoured and spicy. My other 3 colleagues also had wonderful meals. The servings are generous and the price just right. Will definitely recommend and return soon.

Was hoping to get some authentic southeast Asian food in Toronto, but I was disappointed to see how they fail cooked the most basic dish in Malaysia. The Nasi Lemak had no chicken and the sambal sauce is not good. The Nasi Lemak was very overpriced.

A really good dining experience overall. Actually the best I have had for awhile. The place is nice with just right ambience. Dim lighting and light music goes well with good feed that they served.

We came here for dinner last night looking for some Southeast Asian cuisine. The dining area was mostly full with what looked to be a dinner party. The service was very rushed. Our waiter (the only waiter) barely spoke two sentences to us the entire meal. The food was ... nothing special. At the price of the entrees, you would expect there to be more flavor and care put into the dishes. The food was bland and I am pretty sure the vegetables used in our meals were frozen.
