Had a buffet experience, so I'm unsure of the menu items. That being said, the food was tasty with helpful signs on food items being served. The buffet was all you can eat experience with no extra charges. If you want to have a taste of India, this could be ... one if it's around your area. Good ambience, music and friendly staff. It has opened again under new management. If you're not going during bigger time, it's a bit of a fancier, gourmet experience with a simple a la carte menu. The price is decent with smaller portions than most Indian restaurants (but still super filling). The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and ... modern. And the taste of the food is so delicious. You can tell it wasn't just thrown together but has delicate details in its presentation. Very nice place. I was honestly a little disappointed after dining here. I have anticipated for so long for this location to finally open after such a long time it was closed (for repairs or renovations I believe). I pass by the place daily going to and from work and have gotten to ... hear from my South Asian friends about the restaurant line and its renowned signature chef. Let me go over first the few things that kept the establishment from getting full stars. One was that the taste of the food available for the open buffet was not as special as I had anticipated it to be --- buffet VS a la carte set-up already considered. Next thing is that the service could have been better and more timely. I had to follow-up a couple of times for the table-served naan. Which, personally, seems 1 more time too many. Lastly and most importantly is the staging & furbishings of the restaurant. For a location that was closed for a good period of time due to renovations, I find it unacceptable for it to have annoyingly creaking wooden floorboards. That was the case for the hall leading to the washrooms. Every stride taken at that part of the restaurant was met with some cringy squeaking step. Now is for me to discuss what I did appreciate about The Yellow Chili. I consider the lunch buffet price of just around $15 really good value and money well spent. Another thing is that I really recognize the small gesture of offering some free desserts after our meals. We were offered complimentary Gulab jamuns which were such a treat. Clean, cozy and quiet environment with ampt amount of room for different group sizes. Very friendly staff who are prompt with orders. There is a small lunch menu with a chicken, lamb and vegetarian option and comes with multiple tasting points. The regular menu is a full size (sharable) portions ... and doesn't come with sides. When you order naan on the side, it comes with approx. 6 cut up (triangular) pieces. Everything is fresh and tasteful without too much oil or grease.
