There are 3 Indian restaurants close to each other on Dundas and I've tried them all. And in my view, Spicey House is the best. For some reason, the place is never busy. But this makes it very pleasant for a quiet dinner. I've patronized this place for around 10 years ... and I have my preferred dishes. Cochin Chicken is fairly new on the menu and has wonderful South Indian flavours. Lamb Biryani is succulent. We had the okra last time loved it. If you order pakora for starters you will find them huge. You'll take half the order home. Others have mentioned how good the naan is, and it's true. Give this place a try. Read more
Ordered from UberEats and the food was excellent. I had the butter chicken with rice, samosas and garlic naan bread. Best Indian food I ever tasted so far. I can't wait for them to reopen on Tuesday! They also give a lot of food.
I don't know what these bad reviews are talking about!!! Literally High Park Spicy House is my go to Indian restaurant no matter where I am, it troubles me to see people writing bad reviews to PUBLICIZE their own restaurant. I too have tasted food from all 3 Indian restaurants ... down the street and you know what HPSH is the best. The Butter chicken is tremendous and ohmygosh the Naan is heaven on earth. If im having the meal by myself I cant finish a whole dish, like the butter chicken, there will always be left overs for the next day because of how much is given in one portion. I have ordered here for many special occasions as well as the im too lazy to cook days, Its been amazing to say the least. Read more
Last night I had ordered food from here through uber eats. My bill was over 50 dollars for two meals which ordinarily wouldn't bother me but, both mine and my spouse's meals were terrible and we both ended up throwing our meals in the GARBAGE. We both love Indian food ... and are no strangers to how it should taste. However this did not taste anything like Indian food whatsoever. He ordered Lamb Vindaloo, it tasted nothing like it should and was far too salty. I ordered CHICKEN Tikka Masala, there was far too little chicken (7 pieces at the most), the majority of my meal was just big chunks of onion and green peppers, the sauce was not creamy at all as it should be, it was just a red sauce with a little bit of spice... on top of that we ordered plain basmati rice. I'm not sure how on earth you can mess that up, but they did. Honestly the rice tasted like it was cooked in a soapy water and nothing I tried to add to the rice could mask the taste. The only thing I was satisfied with was the garlic Naan bread. In the end we ended up buying junk food from the variety store (which was way more satisfying) as it was not in my budget to spend another 50 DOLLARS on food. I just wanted to try something new but regretfully wish I had just ordered something else and not wasted so much money. I will NEVER order food from here again and DO NOT recommend it to anyone. I would recommend North of Bombay which is just up the street on dundas and knows how to cook indian food a lot better if you're looking for it in the junction area. Read more
If you're looking for liquidy, soupy, boring curries here's your spot. The taste was bland and boring of both the butter chicken soup and liquid vindaloo. I tried mixing the "famous" butter chicken into the rice to make it more palatable but now I just have soggy rice... check out the photos.
