Costa Verde - Toronto, Ontario

I preferred the old restaurant prior to the closure & reopening of the new one even if it wasn't perfect. I gave it 2 tries since they recently opened back up and both orders were 2 chicken's 2 Large rice & Large potatoes. Chicken is decent but not good enough ... to go back a 3rd time and food was cold/room temp both times. I asked if potatoes were better this time cause they seemed to be just boiled with little to no flavor the first time and I was told they are oven roasted but yet again potatoes seemed over boiled and no flavor. I believe they are boiling them, then tossing them in the oven for a short time ?.. Rice both times I ordered was also over cooked and no flavor, rice was not even mixed well and some rice was still white so I mixed in a lot of hot sauce... Not even close to the Portuguese rotisserie I grew up eating so I would not recommend this place unless you are really hungry and fine with a sub par meal. Went here today for the first time after they renovated and not disappointed. They are a little more expensive then other Portuguese Food places but it’s worth every penny. The food is fresh, service is good(even when busy) and food is tasty. I got a large rice, 2 pieces of ... fish and 2 tarts for $38. Food was filling and the tarts tasted homemade and fresh. We frequent the Vaughan location all the time when we are in the area. The food is always fresh and the place busy all the time. When we moved to the city a few years ago we were excited to try the Toronto location but the same level of quality ... just wasn’t there. Fast forward to today after their reopening and they are better than ever! Keep in mind this is good food. Not fast food. A fresh off the grill BBQ chicken will take about 20 minutes so do yourself a favour and call in advance. You won’t regret it. Read more

They're back!!! and better than ever - just opened today. Everything's fresh and clean, some long time faces, some new faces - all very friendly. Grilled chicken and garlic rapini super delicious. Lots of food options. So happy to have these guys open again, I really missed them : )

This location has a reopening sign posted. It is Feb 5th 2024 currently. Will update once it has reopened. Stay tunned Looking forward to another fresh chicken place. I've heard the food here is delicious and locals are excited on its reopening.
