When you've been around forever you just don't care anymore, or at least the owner here just doesn't care. We were a table of 12 and I was paying for 5 of those 12. Cocktail sent back undrinkable. My medium steak was served to me well done so I sent ... it back. After a long wait it came back to me uncooked and raw in the middle. My friend seated beside me ordered that same medium steak and got hers very well done but ate it because she was too hungry to wait. We showed our server her steak and obviously mine. Our server was professional, courteous and did her job as well as she could in the circumstances. The owner, who was definitely around never bothered to come over to us and say a word. Not an apology or an offer of a free anything. Not even a cup of coffee. I never did eat that night but they so generously didn't charge me for my meal (yes that's sarcasm). My friend beside me with the dead steak -- full charge!! Oh and then to boot, they added an auto-gratuity of 18% on our bill PLUS THE HST. How dare you autograt on a fiasco. We would have tipped our server properly because she did her job. So, to the owner, if you don't care anymore, maybe it's just time to sell to somebody who does. This place is a hidden gem. The server is friendly and accommodating. She gave suggestions as well as it is my first time going to this place. The steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered Neptune steak and a clam chowder on the side. The food was amazing. I would definitely ... recommend this place to my friends and family. Saturday my wife and I along with our close neighbors went for dinner as a birthday celebration. Not only was the food fantastic, like home made but the owners made us feel like part of their family. First time at Blackhorn tonight. This is a 60+ yr old school establishment, but somehow always missed it. Been looking to fill the spot since Smith Brothers closed during covid. Had their lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, peppercorn steak, and rib eye special. Everything was cooked to temperature and delicious. Meals come ... with a side of fries or potatoes, veggies and salad or soup, great value overall. See them replacing both our Steakhouse and Greek food cravings. Sorry Danforth. We'll be back. Steamed mussels were small but tasty. The green peppercorn steak was cooked to perfection. I had too many buns that night, otherwise I would have more words praising the grilled potato. Overall this is a nice steakhouse near my neighbourhood. Glad we found this place.
