Reviews for Gabby’s Bistro in Toronto, Ontario
This place is great! They have happy hour in the afternoon and from 10:00-2:00! 10/10 would recommend to a friend!
Small little pub with good pricing. Got a mug of beet and nachos. Food was good and fairly good sizing. Beer was also cold so no complaints there. Some tvs to watch sports and no loud music. Recommended stopping in to see for yourself
I've been coming here for the last several months and I have to say in that time things have started to go downhill. My usual go to was the nachos with beef but that is no longer offered on the menu. As one of the rare few allergic to poultry, their ... shift away from everything other than chicken is a disappointing development. There is little I can have off their menu. Last time here we had the deep fried pickles and spinach artichoke dip. They were alright. Nothing to write home about, but nothing overly terrible. Service: There's a clear discrepancy in service depending on which staff is behind the bar. Some are attentive, some are little more than acknowledging you, more interested in diving for tips where they can. The food: The kitchen staff has been the same the whole time, but I can hardly blame them for trying to shift to fit their new menu. Previously, the food was good for the items offered. Now, it's become passable at best from what I have, and can, try. The pricing is great for a local stop, so that is a plus for them, but there isn't much else I can say about the place anymore. Editing for the reply: I confirmed with the person I was there with that day to ensure I hadn't misheard. We were not offered bison meat, we were offered a burger we could cut up onto the nachos which would have been inadequate for the size of a large plate and didn't sound as appetizing as the nachos we used to get here. best vibe, professional services and beverages. People are very nice and happy there. Delicious food you'd try ever. Thank you guys for the friendliest vibe! 🍻 Happy 35th anniversary Gabby's! 🎉
My first time here, and unfortunately, it was the worst experience. I chose this place because a friend recommended it for a casual meeting. The day was nice but cold; however, inside the bar was freezing cold all the time. Prices were normal for a Bar & Grill. However, the reason I ... am making this review is because of this awful experience during our dining. My friend asked for the soda options, and the lady gave us two choices: a can or direct from the machine (both the same price, around $3.75, with no refill). We chose a can. I was facing the entrance, but my friend had a view of the whole bar and saw how the lady opened the cans (we didn’t ask for that) and poured the drink into two glasses full of ice. She filled up one glass and half of the other with just one can. When she opened the second can, she only poured a little and kept the other (almost full) can of soda for herself! When she brought the drinks to the table, my friend asked her (in a funny way) if that was all the drink. She got nervous and said, “yes, this is from the can, not the machine, blah, blah,” and left. After that, everything was uncomfortable, but being an introvert and tired, we decided not to complain and just eat. At some point, she asked if we wanted a soda refill, and my friend thought, ‘Oh, maybe she is going to give us the rest of the drink,’ but she said, "This is extra, not free." When we asked for the bill, we requested separate bills (one drink each and shared food). She tried to make us pay for one plate each. When we said no, it took her 8 minutes to do the math and bring us back the machine to pay. While my friend was paying, she left for another 8 minutes, so I ended up adding my share myself in the machine and leaving. (At this point I was considering not to pay, but I am not that kind of person) I feel this is the worst experience I have ever had. The place was empty when we arrived, so there was no excuse for all this. She was just talking with a guy while the kitchen guy was always working. I’m not coming back and I’m going to look for a refund, sorry not sorry :( Read more
