Mersin - Toronto, Ontario

Mersin used to be run by a beautiful Turkish family (husband, wife and three young kids; all present in the business on a daily basis) and I must say, I used to go there almost every day for about eight to nine months. Just before they sold, the prices went ... up a bit for the lunch plate so I went there less frequently just for my wallet's stability, however still, I was treated amazingly and truly valued as a frequent customer. That family has since sold the business and honestly, I hate to say it but the food tastes different. It's less flavourful and dryer overall. I don't really go to Mersin anymore and while I hope they can improve the new recipes and build back that customer loyalty and their reputation, the new owner is just not as friendly or welcoming (don't get me wrong, he isn't mean or rude, just very straightforward and in and out, but for food that lacks, I personally would recommend upping the service). I know All those 5 stars review are fake .. this is false advertisement , maybe this was a good place when the Turkish owner was there, now the new owner from Syria is very bad, they dont know what the hick are they doing , they F ... .. U ..C K it up ... there is no Turkish people working or making the food there.. The food was bad - not a good representation of Turkish cuisine AT ALL. NOT clean , I am sure they will shut down soon .. Overall very disappointing, and we won't be coming back. Read more

Best shawarma I've ever had in Toronto! My chicken shawarma wrap was HUGE, and everything was fresh and delicious. They did not skimp on ingredients. I ordered a side of eggplant and it was also excellent.

Excellent tasty food! BIG portions, they gave us more pita bread and falafel than we ordered. Had the chicken breast and chicken shwarma wraps, both were great and not greasy at all. Potato cigars were great and piping hot. This is now my go-to mediterranean joint

This is my first review and I just had to sign up to say stay away from this restaurant. My friend ordered in from them yesterday and we waited over 1.5 hours for our food to be delivered. Nevertheless the food arrived and we were missing one chicken ... Shwarma. We also received zero utensils and we bought 3 dinners. Anyways one other friend opened her mixed grill dinner and as she started to eat, she discovered a hair in her garlic sauce. Immediately my friend called the restaurant to say that we were without one Shwarma and that our friend found a hair in her meal. The person on the other end said that they would charge to have another Shwarma brought to us but could discount us on our next order for the hair. At that point we were just hungry so we said fine. Then a few minutes later my friend who ordered opened her mixed grill meal and there was a hair in the meat. Absolutely unacceptable, so she called back. This time the person on the other end of the Mersin restaurant was rude and unapologetic and then accused my friend of putting the hair in the meal. That was the last straw, we are boycotting this so called restaurant and this review is to warn would be diners of going anywhere near this restaurant. We actually wish we read a few other Yelp reviews as it seems the norm for the food to be delivered 1-1.5 hours late and for people to find hair in their food. Don't go to this restaurant or order from them. You will not be happy diners! Read more
