I got the Chocolate Mousse Caramel cake. I ended up giving it to my hubby because it lacked flavour. Not worth $8!

My experiences here have been peculiar. I first came in a few months ago and the chocolate and double chocolate croissant were regular size. Now they’ve shrunk considerably. This one pictured is nearly mini size but costs almost $5!! Tastes great but only lasts a few bites, which isn’t worth ... it. The regular chocolate croissant only has a tiny amount of chocolate in it. The raisin pastries were way too sweet, like it was soaked in sugar rather than glazed. The first time I came in, I was asking if there were any vegetarian sandwiches. The clerk, noticing I was Muslim told me that all the meat was halal, even the ham, which apparently is just processed chicken??? I was very confused… Why would you have a chicken sandwich but label it ham?! I also didn’t see any halal certification posted so it all seemed very dubious. As well, another time I went in to buy a vegetarian quiche. I was given a Parmesan and leek quiche but upon eating it, there was actually smoked salmon in it even though it was labeled as vegetarian… the clerk offered to refund or replace it which was nice. I decided to try the quiche anyways but it turned out to be super salty and I tried offering some to guests but nobody could eat it because of how incredibly salty it was. I’m pretty sad because I live next door and was excited to have a cute French bakery near me but $5 for a 2-bite croissant coupled with confusing claims and inaccurate product descriptions make me hesitant. Good tasting pastries, but so overpriced and super small. As shown in the picture, the chocolate croissant is literally a mini. Very disappointed in the value for price, as 6 little tarts, 2 croissants and a small brioche loaf (very dry) was $56.00 Unless they drag me back to show me I'm wrong, I ... wouldn't go back and can't recommend. Most recent visit was subpar. I think ownership changed last year and the product quality has diminished significantly. Today pastry were dry and over baked. Zanes used to be our go to but now not for the price/quality. We much prefer Mon K even though they open later

Great patisserie in the city and one of my favourite places to get croissants from. The crumb is just right. The breads are and chocolate treats are also to die for. Definitely a hidden gem and great value for what you get. The patio space is nice bonus in the ... warmer months. Read more
