What a lovely stop on our walking tour of Toronto. We love to find a local bakery when we travel to different cities and this one was amazing. The owner was incrediblely kind and her vanilla crepe cake takes the cake. So decadent and made with lots of love. She ... was willing to chat with us and let us know some hot spots to hit while we walked. Toronto was kicking our butt, but a sweet treat turned the day around. I work right next to this place and never even knew it was there! I dropped in for a few cups of tea (black tea they have is pretty good! Especially if you’re an English breakfast tea fan). I saw the cake slices and ended up getting some for a Friday ... treat and wow! Tiramisu was to die for! It was so creamy and light and just amazing! Update- just had the burnt cheesecake and oh my! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing some of the tastiest desserts that I’ve ever had at Millie Desserts, a hidden gem of a bake shop tucked away around a block from the TIFF lightbox. This minimalist bakeshop has mastered the art of simplicity, offering an interesting blend of Japanese and ... French inspired flavours of Mille Feuille Crepe Cakes. I ordered 3 slices: Original (Vanilla), Matcha, and Earl Grey. Each slice was carefully crafted, and feeling the alternating layers of bouncy crepe and fluffy cream in each bite made the texture just as addicting as the flavours. My favourite was the Earl Grey – the tea flavour was potent, and balanced perfectly with the milkiness of the cream. It was a London Fog in cake form. Pleasant experience. We got the matcha and tiramisu flavours. It was my first time having crêpe cakes, and I’m happy that it was here. Doesn’t only taste lovely but the cakes are pretty too. I would have loved if there was a larger seating area to enjoy these tasty treats. ... So we got them as takeout and had them at home. The service could have been a bit more friendly. Read more
