Vatra Cheese & Deli - Toronto, Ontario

Cabbage rolls used to be really good but the ones I got yesterday were mostly rice. I don't know if they changed the recipe but I was disappointed and wo t be going back.

I quite enjoyed this little European deli/bakery! I dined in as a pit stop on my way out of town, and the food was so tasty and the people here were so nice, I decided to take home some food as well. It was a joy getting lunch here and supporting a ... small business (I saw them by chance as I was driving towards my usual fast food restaurant.... I'm glad I went here instead). I ordered cabbage rolls, perogies, perfectly-spiced potatoes, fresh beet salad and blackcurrant juice. That juice is so thirst- quenching!! They had fish, schnitzel, and sausages at the hot food table that looked delicious as well. I also picked up gluten-free multi-flower honey biscuits for my gluten-free guests. The owner is a wonderful man. He was very helpful advising me on what would be a great dish for me to bring to my potluck. He wasn’t wrong! The potato salad be recommended was delicious! Highly recommend this amazing deli.

Yuri is the owner and seriously wonderful man behind all the yummy eats at Vatra. I came all the way from downtown Toronto east to visit. I sadly came at the time when Ukraine is seeing some of the most horrific times in its history. I came to support and ... show love to its people and food.
