Staff was great. They prepared a brisket for me trimming the fat and seasoning it too. Turned out amazing on the pellet smoker. Great quality meats.
The name suits the place beautifully. I tried 3 other “butcher shops” to try and find Beef Short Rib Plate (Dino Ribs) to throw on the smoker, and they all looked at me like I had 2 heads. Then I called TFB and was pleasantly surprised that they knew exactly ... what I was after. When I arrived at the shop, they knew I was the caller when I brought it up and went into the back to grab two different cuts for me to choose from. We had a great chat and I felt well taken care of. The quality of the beef was great, the cut was perfect, the prices were reasonable and the staff were solid. I won’t hesitate to shop with you again! Read more
Ordered online, changing & canceling for reordering is easy. There're different delivery dates available. Quick delivery after the ordered will be the next day after 12 pm. I requested a call when the delivery arrived & it complied. BEWARE OF REFUNDABLE PRE-CHARGE OVERWEIGHT DELIVERY FEE: Besides paying a mandatory delivery fee for ... your order. There's another refundable delivery overweight pre-charge fee charged to your credit card for your order. My order was refunded $22.45 but in the online order, it's already pre-set as one of your orders of $20. It's kind of confusing that you've to order yourself & see the charge. The store only charges the order when it's considered "OVERWEIGHT".🤔 Even if you ordered items that are lightweight the charge is still applicable & necessary. Apparently my last order was not delivered overweight so the charge didn't applicable & I received an email notification of my refund will appear in my credit card account in a few business days. My opinion of this credit card refundable pre-charge fee is kind of perplexing & hassle because the refund takes a few business days & if I want to order online again, I'll have to wait for the refund again. By then I'd paid twice already & waiting for my refunds. it's tedious but I understand why the pre-charge is necessary & I'll comply with this policy. I agree to disagree, don't have other alternatives. So consider this before you order & it'll complicate your credit card statement. Just make sure your credit card has sufficient credit...a friendly reminder. When ordering online, most of the products are shown with pictures. There're plenty of selections of different meats, prepared meals, bottled products, etc, etc....worth to check it out. The prepared meal & meat products I ordered online are all vacuum sealed, cleaned, and sanitized. It's all properly labeled. It even provided a complimentary compact insulated carrying bag. It's a nice gesture and excellent courtesy customer service.👍 For the prepared meals, I tasted the Moroccan lamb. It's excellent but wishes for just a few more pieces of lamb. The small chicken pie, the small steak & mushrooms pie & the lamb shepherd's pie are all delicious & excellent for the quality and quantity. The bottle Kozlik's x-hot horseradish is my liking. So far, it's very impressive after I received and tasted the prepared meals. Fully recommended. I'll go to Yonge St. store for some more purchasing soon. Read more
I was driving by this place so i decided to give it a shot…and i’m glad i did. I tried some fillet mignon and grilled it on the grill and the griddle (stove top). The meat was very tender and juicy. Loved it. Will definitely try it again to try ... other items. Read more
Wondering why I saw an Excel meat truck making a meat delivery to the Friendly Butcher at 3269 Yonge St Toronto. It was many months ago but, regardless, I thought Friendly Butcher only sold locally sourced (Ontario), meats as advertised. At the time I inquired with the owner who left ... me more confused, something to do with processing of the meats. I've since spoken with other butchers who were also curious. I called Friendly Butcher back today and spoke with gentleman named Ken who first acknowledged that all of their meats are locally Ontario sourced then, gave a different answer as to why they use Excel Meats claiming "they send those cuts to the restaurants". He abruptly passed me to the owner who gave me a completely different answer than Ken's and also his own from months ago but acknowledged that he may use Excel as one of their suppliers. NOTE Excel does NOT deal with locally sourced Ontario meats. So, "where's the beef" (chicken, pork, etc), coming from? Read more
