I hadn't been here in over five years, because of falling food flavor; fate was with me today. Delays created a stop-over in Scarborough, and I had to have something to eat. Please note, I only had the Jerk Chicken Bowl (lunch special); because of this day on Dec 20th; ... I've been back two more times, only for that bowl. The food was excellent, the rice and peas with ox-tail gravy had all the flavor needed, and you could still taste the coconut on the back end; 8.5/10. We get takeout quite often from here, but the last few times the food has been very dry and old tasting. The fried chicken today was not good. It tasted very dry and it looked like they double fried it. The chilli chicken was actually sweet … I don’t understand. ... Rice was ok. On the bright side, Beef patty was good. Noodles were good. This place used to have the best Caribbean food while I was growing up in the area in the 90s. The rice and peas was still the best I ever have had with lots of rosemary and other spices. The chili chicken was flavourful. Sadly, this is no longer the ... case. Very flat tasting with not a lot of spices, either the rice and peas or the chicken. The quality of the chicken was a bit on the chewy side - not fresh. They get credit though for their portions. The one pictured is a lunch special for under $10 - really hard to get a decent amount of food for under $10 these days. Read more

Wonderful experience coming here looking to have some jerk pork and curry chicken. Both served with a good helping of rice and peas. The curry chicken had more spicy heat than the pork but the pork was very tender and not very dry... just right! Staff were ... friendly and helpful. Mr. Jerk on Morningside is one of the best carribean restaurants in Scarborough. Theyre portions are great. They are NOT stingy on the ox tail gravy which taste AMAZING!
