Excellent Food & Excellent Service ! I went to JV's to get their Thursday Lunch Special - Jerk Chicken. I was greeted and welcomed by 2 lovely ladies who made conversation with me. While I was waiting one of the ladies brought out fresh escovitch fish, It look absolutely delicious. I ... HAD to order it ! It was a bit expensive, but I cant wait to eat it. I ate the Jerk Chicken for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. The meat is properly seasoned, I taste scotch bonnet and real Caribbean flavors. As another reviewer mentioned the Jerk Chicken is spicy - it authentic so be prepared for your taste buds to get excited! I was so pleased with my lunch today ! The coleslaw is very good as well, they asked if I would like some which I thought was nice ! (usually lunch specials don't come with all the bells and whistles). Would definitely order again and would try all their items. I saw the oxtail (did not order) and it also looked delicious! UPDATE: The fish was good 7/10, there was not a lot of rice for the price of the meal, I also thought it could use some scotch bonnet peppers cut up for the escovitvch as the fish was mild- I would've preferred it to be hotter. I got the jerk chicken dinner and wow! The flavor of everything was awesome. The chicken was just fell off the bone. I got the larger and it was more than enough. I will definitely be going back.
I love the $5 Coco bread sandwich. Can take a little bit around lunch because there is only 1 person working but they try their best. No issues. Delicious food. Good price.
I got a jerk chicken sandwich today. Holy moly was it good! I'm still salivating over it. The coco bread was a good amount of crisp and chew, jerk chicken had the spice and slow cooked texture, and the coleslaw was a great refresher. Bonus points: I asked the lady who ... was working today what the Cow Foot on the menu was and she was describing it to me as something similar to ox tail; I've never had either. She brought me out a small sample of the ox tail, oh boy oh boy I am ordering that again! Definitely a family run place! Next time I'm in I will be ordering more than just jerk chicken. Read more
