The owner is nice but the food is strange, as for me. We had watermelon soup and tofu with mushrooms and I didn't like it at all. But the pork chops were good. This is south Cantonese cuisine
Haven't returned in half a year, it seems quality has diminished slightly. The sand ginger chicken was very chewy, and the sweet and sour pork was a bit dry. We also had the beef noodle soup, pea shoots, egg plant and steamed pork belly with preserved vegetables which were quite ... nice. This is a good takeout place for those times you just don't want to cook. Read more
If you enjoy real Hong Kong style Southern Chinese dishes (ie. Dai Pai Dong) or would like to try, this place is it. I went to the Canton Kitchen on Sheppard/Pharmacy. Here's why I liked them: 1. Service was good, fast, and efficient. 2. Taste great, not too oily, no 'over fried' taste, ... not too salty or spicy. No heavy MSG taste. 3. Categorized and listed Chef Special dishes with plenty of photos, made selection EASY. 4. Lots of space and clean, clean washroom, low priced, lots of parking, bowls and plates were larger than normal, which was ideal. Will I go again? Definitely. Read more
If you looking for quick Cantonese fix, you sure came to the wrong place. This franchise used to be my favourite, but not here. This place is so SLOW, the people are slow, the ordering is slow, the staff couldn't even remember the menu, the one served me just took ... the menu from my hand and look it up for the code. I ordered 太爷鸡饭 and 金菇炆伊面, it roughly took ten minutes for the 太爷鸡饭 to appear, and another ten minutes for the other one to finished. I am not sure why took so long, since all those chicken cuisines are all pre-cook and should be ready to serve in 1 minute. When I open the lunch box, I was amazed to see that they put chicken neck on top of the rice to make the box look full. I swear to God this is the first time I saw chicken neck served in Canada's restaurant, even small Canto-BBQ store wouldn't do that. The veggie is barely cook, looks like just warm up by the heat of the rice. The soup came with is not fresh at all, so disgusting. The noodle is more disgusting, look like a vomit in the box. Would not recommend to others. Read more

Best place for home-style Cantonese food in the Scarborough area, at reasonable price. The food here brings back those familiar childhood feels. The staff are very nice and personal in a small restaurant kind of way - you feel like you're at a friend's house. We just discovered this place a ... year ago and we're already their regulars. Make sure to buy the VIP card from them ($15 if I remember right) to get the no tax discount, which will pay for itself after a couple meals. Read more
