Very disappointed with my overall experience at boom a few weeks ago. Came to celebrate my birthday but definitely should’ve gone anywhere else. The service was awful, constantly looking for our server Isabel who was no where to be found half the time even though there were only a couple ... tables. Food came after 40 minutes and it definitely matched the service. The steak came well well done even though we asked for med rare and everything was just bad. Our server didn’t even do a quality check so we couldn’t say anything. When she finally did come around we let her know and she told us “next time when you get it you should cut it in half and let me know right away”, well we would’ve but she was no where to be found. I went for breakfast on my birthday, July 1st, Canada Day. Isabel welcomed us with a huge smile and made my day worthwhile with all her friendliness and contagious joy 🥰 she sang happy birthday to me and offered me a dessert as it was my birthday, at the end ... she even made some very cute drawings on the invoice. Thank you very much once again Isabel, you made my day much better! The food was also delicious! Read more
This was my first time trying American style brunch, and it was perfect. I highly recommend here whoever wants to try decent brunch.
Today we paused at Boom on St. Clair for a late breakfast. We were warmly greeted by our host and server, Isabel. As this was ‘brunch’ for us we chose 2 hearty options: the Power Breakfast (with peameal, poached eggs, roasted tomatoes and rye toast) and the Oh Canada Eggs ... Benedict. Both meals included fresh fruit garnish: an orange twist and a pineapple wedge. Both meals were attractively plated. (Something that particularly appeals to my CIA trained foodie husband…”we consume first with our eyes!”) The food arrived hot, and Isabel made sure to check back with us - first if all was right with our meal - and later on for coffee refills. We often choose to return here when in Toronto to see our kids and grandkids, and here are our reasons why: 1. consistency - we can count on the food being exactly the same, every time, as described on the menu; 2. we can count on being seated quickly, even when they’re busy; 3. we feel they value our business - they remember us, and call us by name, and seem genuinely happy we came; 4. options - the menu appeals to all of us, and there’s something for everyone, even the most finicky eater: grandkids, adults, and seniors; 5. and finally, with all respect to gender and ageism, they employ women of a certain vintage, who know their stuff, understand children and the challenges of dining out, and how to problem-solve and think on their feet - and whose years in age also bring wisdom to their job performance! Thank you Boom for our full bellies and Isabel’s capable and caring service. We’ll see you again, soon! Read more
Waited for a bit for our food. I am allergic to fruit. Next time I will ask for none on my plate. Not your guy's fault, I should have asked. Eggs were tasty, coffee was good. The farmers sausage was delightful. (I am T2D I get to panicked when I ... wait longer for food. Hahaha) Read more
