The Good Neighbour Espresso Bar - Toronto, Ontario

This used to be my local but nearly everything about it has been in steady decline at the expense of customers for the last few years. They've raised prices, trimmed their hours, nixed their cozy fireplace seating area and have stopped hiring friendly baristas. The staff here circa 2020 and ... before used to be legendarily friendly and personable - now of that crew only the manager is a pleasant and welcoming face. The other counter staff and baristas are standoffish and curt. Used to be open till 7pm, now they shutter at 5pm. Their prices have also gone up and their espresso drinks are among the most expensive in the neighbourhood. It's a shame, because until very recently there wasn't much 'third wave coffee' competition in the neighbourhood with a nice atmosphere but thankfully that is changing. The coziest little espresso bar! It’s always buzzing with energy and you really feel like a part of the community when you’re here. The staff are kind and patient. The atmosphere is beautiful. This cafe is every hipster's dream! Super cool interior with a post-industrial/slightly minimalistic vibe and interesting art. I tried their almond croissant and pumpkin spice latte - soooo good! and there are two washrooms not one! I was there weekday before lunch time, and I was able to find a ... place to sit (sometimes quite a challenge in such chill places) and not all tables were occupied by laptops lol. Another good cafe to add to my The Good Espresso list. Nice staff, good atmosphere, possibility to sit on the outdoor patio, the neighborhood is not very busy what is super good too. I absolutely love this cafe. The space is big and airy with lots of available seating. The coffee is good, but I highly recommend the chai latte- hot or iced. I also really love the tea - the jasmine green tea and the sencha are both really lovely. The staff ... are nice and they keep the washroom clean.
