I recently visited the Second Cup Coffee Shop with high expectations, unfortunately my experience was far from satisfying. I ordered a cappuccino, but what I received was a major letdown. The espresso base of the cappuccino tasted stale and musty, as if the machine had not been cleaned or descaled ... in a long time. There was a noticeable bitter and sour undertone that overshadowed any potential richness or creaminess in the milk. Moreover, the espresso shot seemed over-extracted likely due to using fewer beans than necessary for a proper extraction. This resulted in a weak and unbalanced flavor that was hard to enjoy. For a coffee shop that prides itself on the quality of its brews, I was expecting much better. Proper machine maintenance and adherence to brewing standards are crucial in providing a delightful coffee experience. I hope higher management of Second Cup can address these issues to improve the quality of their offerings. Paid $4.80 for this bagel “with cream cheese”. And I asked for sesame. Don’t waste your money.

I like this Second Cup a lot as this location is near the University of Toronto. Their lattes are good, and I can’t get enough of their matcha latte—it’s my go-to drink every time I visit. Whether I’m looking for a quiet spot to study or catch up with friends, there’s always plenty of seating available. It’s a good place to relax and unwind after a long day of classes or work. Being so close to UOT, it’s incredibly convenient for students and faculty alike to grab a quick coffee or find a comfortable spot to work on assignments. Plus, the staff here are always friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. Stopped in just for a hot drink. We had a hot chocolate and a maple latte. Prices are reasonable. Very big customer seating area. Good selection on foods if you are in need of a snack. Was very clean and lots of seats available
