I come here occasionally for coffee or for their famous walnut chocolate chip cookies. The cookies definitely are delicious and high quality, but I wouldn't say they're the best in the city. I attended Le Gourmand at 152 Spadina Ave, Toronto based on the words "the worlds best cookies". Personally I love cookies and have been searching for a place that has it! When I walked in the café the atmosphere felt a bit dark but I saw the sign that read ... order here. The girl at the counter seemed ok I was brand new to the place so I felt kind of overwhelmed looking at the menu to order but, I spotted the Turkey Club Sandwich, So, decided on the sandwich, chocolate chip cookie and an almond slice of cake. On first impression this café is quite pricy. I still thought it should be great. While I processed my payment the girl at the counter dodged off and returned with a box. I didn't want to appear pushy so I didn't ask but I thought they would offer the receipt but it didn't happen. So, I was left holding this box unsure if that was my full order or not. I started hearing other customers getting an order number so, I returned to ask her if what I had was my order and she said no it was the pastry items that I had to wait on the other side for the sandwich. So, I stood regretting I tipped, not having a order number and felt out of place. So, with the pictures you'll see the sandwich is thick and half size for $13.99. It tasted good but portion wise for the price you decide. The cookies to me isn't the world's best but it did taste good. I split the cookies to get a clear look at the size. My opinion reflects service as it's hard to find good service in Toronto. I don't mind paying lots if the Service I receive is great I would not be rushing to return here as the service is not quite worth the price for me. We came here to try the “world’s best cookies”, but actually everything was better: the ambience, the vanilla cake, the espresso, the latte… The choc chip cookie was not bad but quite dry on the outside rim, I think it was slightly overbaked. Tastewise no problem. A note on sustainability: 8 ... tables were occupied, 5 had plastic cups and only 3 -including ours- had mugs/cups (we asked for it!). Toilet clean. Service all right. “Home is where heart is. Heart where cookie is. Math clear: home is cookie.” - Cookie Monster. Holy smoke, next level dough’pe, yummy yummy, monster cookie in my tummy! My review is justified based on how sick I feel from eating way too much. Gooey, ooey, decedent, crispiest, firm yet soft ... and oozing with flavour whilst baked to perfection, these are THE best and world famous OG cookies in Toronto and best I ever had, period. The hype is real. Absolutely delicious birthday cookie cake with attitude and a knockout phenomenal flavors. It's hard to see in the photos, but the slightly less-cooked filling of these cookies give them a delicious moist texture and the perfect ratio you look for. One of the rad things I love about these cookies, is that they don't taste overly sugary or 'heavy' and instead fresh and made with fantastic high-quality ingredients which leaves you feeling great after nomming down. However, this is a downfall for me in the same sense as it leaves me hanking for more! The joint itself is also super quaint, humble and a really nice comfortable place. Nice place for coffee chat. The chocolate walnut cookie is nicely baked in the way that it is crispy and that the proportion of walnuts and chocolate is well balanced. The coffee also tastes rich. The time limit for each table is two hours. Let's be considerate and facilitate the turnover ... of customers. Read more
