Istanbul Cafe & Espresso Bar - Toronto, Ontario

Little bit concerned as I heard this place has been bought be the pub next door (which does not have good reviews), but for now it's a great cozy spot. I miss the Turkish delights & baklava, but the atmosphere is still wonderful, LOVE the fireplaces for winter, and the ... front window seats overlook a crosswalk, so it's the perfect spot for a solo visitor who'd rather watch the street action than stare at a screen. There's space for that too though at the back. Can't think of any other cafe in Toronto that ticks off so many boxes. For those who like tasty food, good tea and coffee, as well as a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of Istanbul, this is definitely the right place. The drink menu for the morning and afternoon is very complete, in addition to having many sweet and savory options. Right at the entrance you can ... drink water that is courtesy of the house, as in all places in Canada Service is direct at the cashier and you take your order to the table yourself. The atmosphere is very pleasant, quiet and welcoming with good service. Unfortunately, they do not have accessibility for people with physical disabilities, such as users of wheelchairs and walkers, and they do not have a menu in Braille. Nice cafe with a cozy atmosphere and unique decor. The Turkish coffee was okay but the cappuccino was good. Almond croissant was also very fresh and tasty. Would come back to try some of the other unique items.

Lovely ambience. Came here following the reviews. However was disappointed with what I ordered. Turkish coffee was a miss, inspite of the fancy serving set... Barely 1.5 oz for the price. I've had better Turkish coffee elsewhere in the city. Turkish tea would be a better option. Did not like ... the Turkish delight that was served either. You can skip the dessert Revani (overtly dry and very sweet) Instead, do try their paninis, scones & croissants. They're quite good. Hope to try this place one more time just for other drinks on their menu. Hoping those would be better. Read more
