Aroma Espresso Bar - Toronto, Ontario

All Aromas recently feel like they are charging way too much for the food they provide. While simple and fresh food is great, the prices of 20 dollars for a salad for example at a self-serve cafe are a bit much, in my opinion. But everywhere I've lived, the aroma ... close by was always my go to spot for a good cup of coffee and an hour or two of work, study or chat with a friend. This particular Aroma for the last couple of months has gotten more crowded. Since it's a self-serve cafe, most tables aren't cleaner often or well maintained during rush hours. Sadly, even the coffee making has gone down. I ordered a decaf mocha the other day, which tasted more like a strong latte with chunks of chocolate at the bottom, and I don't think it was decaffeinated either. There are better cafes around the area, every couple of blocks away. If you're in a mood for better coffee or better experiences. I am going to stop going to this one after my last experience. The food and ambience is great. My friends tried the hazelnut coffee too and said it was too good. One less star for the food because the sandwich pictured was $10 and was just half the sandwich (not worth the high price point).

Order the grilled chicken and avocado sandwich on a croissant, Turkey BLT on a croissant, single king caramel macchiato and iced vanilla latte. The sandwiches were amazing, the turkey BLT was on the top of my list. Too pricey for the amount you get, however, compared to other local sandwich ... shops in TO it wasn't bad. The macchiato was superior but small in size. The price was great for the drinks. The iced vanilla latte was horrible, don’t recommend. Delicious to go food made with fresh ingredients. We also love their hot chocolate, which is made with chocolate, so make sure to stir it properly. It's a good idea to bring a spoon with you, as you need it for the chocolate at the bottom, but they only have ... wooden sticks and plastic forks and knives. I don't know whether it is only Sunday morning, but the kitchen was so inefficient that by the time my full order arrived, everything was cold. Cold eggs, especially over easy are disgusting. We tried, but everything, other than closed sandwiches, ended up in the garbage. In addition, Aroma is more expensive because of fresh ingredients. The greens on Sunday morning were no fresh.
