Peartree Restaurant - Toronto, Ontario

Great neighbourhood spot that has been around as long as I can remember. Food is always good. Servers are awesome. Ambiance is wonderful. They have a wonderful patio and solarium. I love that they have a cake fridge in the dining room.

Looks small on the outside but what a cute surprise it is on the inside! The decor is a bit dated but passes off as fancy with its dark colours, linen napkins and beautiful chandeliers! The place is clean and has an inviting atmosphere. Servers go at a slow pace ... but are friendly. The menu has many options and the food is delicious. As a vegetarian, there were many options for me. Best of all, the prices are great, very fair for what is being served. Portions are generous. I couldn't even finish my dish. Overall, great experience and would absolutely go back and recommend it to others! (P.S. They have a solarium that you can book for private parties up to 50 people). Read more

My partner and I have eaten here before many times and it was wonderful; both the food and experience. However, this experience was absolutely HORRIBLE! We came in at 8pm and ordered the prix fix special. I ordered butternut squash soup and he ordered the lentil vegetable soup. The soups arrived with the ... biscuits. While holding and placing my partner’s soup in front of him, the waitress poured my butternut squash soup all over my hand and onto my leg! It was a hot soup. She apologized; then very quickly began to brush it off and downplay the whole situation! She instantly claimed it had poured on her as well but wasn’t that hot, so there isn’t a way that it could have burned me. Yet, I witnessed the whole situation and she did not get any soup on her! With 1/4th of the soup poured all over me, she asks me if I want to get this fixed or I’m okay with the spilled empty soup bowl (soup spilled all over me, with the bowl all covered in soup on the outside and sides!) I said I preferred to get the soup fixed. She took it to the kitchen and all that happened was they wiped the dirty corners of the plates and brought it back to me. Now, I have to eat the soup with a wet sleeve and entire wet pant leg! It is extremely uncomfortable and not an enjoyable experience. However, accidents happen and I tried to enjoy the food. The first biscuit is soft and warm, we enjoy eating the biscuit with the soup. As I take the other biscuit to cut in half and apply butter, it is completely solid!!! This is not an exaggeration; this biscuit is dry and hard as a rock! It felt very hollow and was completely dried out, impossible to even cut in half. I cannot imagine how old this biscuit was. I had to get up to find the waitress to show her and ask for another biscuit. By the time another biscuit arrives and dealing with soup being poured over me, taken back, brought back; my partners soup was completely cold. So was mine. She brings the biscuit and says “I think this should be better”. When I reached for it, to cut it in half, it was a biscuit half dry, far from fresh; but better than the last one. Not wanting to deal with any more complications, my partner and I share a dry biscuit to eat with our cold soups. Originally, I wanted to get a roasted lamb shank for my main course. However, they did not have any more. For our main course we both ordered medium rare steaks with a lobster tail. The steaks were cooked medium rare and were both amazing! However, we were missing the lemon slices for our lobster tail (they always come with one). I had to once again, get up, find the waitress, and ask her for two lemon slices. Overall, this experience was a horrible one! We had to pay regular price for a horrible experience! First, I had HOT soup poured all over me, and then I had to eat with a wet spot on my pant thigh, the size of my hand! The biscuit for the soup was completely dry, old and could not be eaten! The whole situation was downplayed and brushed off by the waitress. We've been in the neighbourhood for months and FINALLY got over to Peartree. We weren't disappointed. The food was quick and delicious, the service friendly, and the atmosphere was lively for Sunday morning. This is a classy place. This review is about brunch. First of all when you order coffee it comes with coffee cake. I'm not a big fan of pancakes but the way they make it here amazing with the fruit gruits inside. The menu is limited but they make their ... food with care. The serving staff is quick and helpful. But the biggest selling Factor about the Peartree is the ambience. The exposed brick the old timey Furniture The Classy feel. To top it all off the price for what you pay is quite reasonable.
